WHY CONFESSION WORKS
God's will is that all men be saved. It is not His will that any perish. He gives us how to be saved and the following scriptures are not just to be saved from death to life, but whatever we need from God we receive the same way, confess His promise for our need, believe it in our heart and we will be delivered from the issues and challenges in this life that are contrary to His will for us which is that we prosper and be in health even as our soul prospers 3John 1:2
ROMANS 10:6-10 But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:) Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.) But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
The steps below show the why and how His Word works when we declare it through confession.
#1. As we sow God's Word in our mouth, our heart hears and it goes into our heart, it causes faith to come. ROMANS 10: 17 Then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. This is a continual flow to develop our faith. Note to hear it you must speak it, or hear someone else speak it. The more you hear it, receive it and believe it the more your faith will develop. This is how faith develops in any area of your life, hearing what God has to say about the situation. His Word is a living substance. So as we want the promises of God in our lives, we find the scriptures/promises that concern the particular desire and those are the promises we sow into our lives. If it is finances, we see what God says about them and confess them. If it is healing, or peace, of wisdom we do the same thing. We must though follow through with action as to what we believe. As we do this, the next step is it renews our mind.
#2. When we confess what He says, we are sowing seeds in His kingdom. Seeds are referred to as His Word (Luke 8:11). When we sow these Words we see the reason in Mark:26-29 And He said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground; and should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knows not how. For the earth brings out fruit of itself, first the blade, then the ear, after that the full grain in the ear. But when the fruit has been brought out, immediately he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come. So as we confess or sow God's Word into our hearts, it goes to work immediately. We hold fast to His promises, knowing that the answer will come. If we change our minds or our confession, it is like going into our newly planted garden and digging up the seed to see if it if producing. This of course, stops the process of the seed growing to produce the life in that seed.
#3. ROMANS 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. We are a triune being created in the image of our Triune God (Father, Son, Holy Spirit). We are a spirit, we have a soul (mind, will, emotions, intellect) and live in a flesh and bone body. Our minds have been programmed over the years from birth on as to what society, our parents, education, experiences have come forth to create what we think, believe and act. None of these things, unless we have been given God's Word, will line up with the Kingdom of God and therefore in order to understand the way we as born again children of God are to live and abide, we must have our minds changed to His way. Confession of His word/promises brings us up to His ways and thoughts.
#4. KEEPS ANSWER BEFORE YOU. By giving God's Word the priority it instructs keeps our faith and expectation flowing. PHILIPPIANS 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. When we pray to make our request to the Lord, we keep that promise before us....thanking Him, acknowledge it is working by our confessing what He has promised. We pray the answer we need/desire not the problem we have. MARK 11:24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever you desire, when your pray, believe that you receive the desire, and you shall have what you asked. The Book of James tells us that we need to be a doer of the Word or we deceive ourselves in that we forget what the Word says. To be a doer is to put action to what we see in the Word as well as being a doer is to keep God's promises always before us, developing our faith, believing we receive what He has provided for us. HEBREWS 2:1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. We keep the answer to our prayers before us so they do not slip, we do not distracted, or allow doubt to enter in.
#5. CONFESSION OF GOD'S WORD WILL CHANGE YOUR HEART. PROVERBS 4:23 Keep your heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. MATTHEW 12:33-35 Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit. O generation of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. The only way our heart can produce good things is when we confess God's Word until it changes the "spirit of our mind" and brings out of our heart what God's Kingdom declares. This changes our heart, as it also is renewing our mind to understand and walk in the ways of the Lord.
#6. CONFESSION SETS THE LAW OF FAITH IN MOTION. ROMANS 3:27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? No: but by the law of faith. We know faith being a law operates certain ways, the main being GALATIANS 5:6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which works by love. Faith has some ABC's. Accept the promise. Believe it in your heart. Confess it with your mouth. Do it (put action to it). Expect the manifestation. MARK 11:22-24 And Jesus answering said unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be you removed, and be you cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he says shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he says.
Note the word "says" is used three times more than the believe. The manifestation is not going to happen just be cause you say it, but, saying is a vital part of it.
GENESIS 1 very clearly demonstrates how faith works...God said, God saw. HEBREWS 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
#7. CONFESSION PUTS ANGELS TO WORK FOR YOU. Angels are sent to minister for us HEBREWS 1:14 Are they (angels) not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation? PSALM 103:19-20 The LORD has prepared His throne in the heavens; and His kingdom rules over all. Bless the LORD, you His angels, that excel in strength, that do His commandments, hearkening unto the voice of His Word. The "voice" of God's Word is when someone, in faith, speaks it. The written Word can lay on your table and look pretty, but until you pick it up, declare its promises, the angels do nothing. JOB 22:28 You shall also decree (speak, put voice to) a thing, and it shall be established unto you: and the light shall shine upon your ways.
1 CORINTHIANS 6:3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life? Angels are given to us on an assignment from the Lord. We all have a guardian angel given us but we also have angels who are to minister to us and for us. However, if we do not give them God's Word to act on, how could we judge them? They do His bidding when we give voice to His promises to us. There is so much to learn about angels, how they move, can be provoked, minister, etc. 1 PETER 1:12 they desire to look into the things of the Gospel. I am sure that they wonder sometimes why we as children of God do not engage them to help us. Start confessing (voicing) God's Word and let them go into action.
